About IIT Delhi
IIT Delhi was established in 1961 as the College of Engineering in Delhi. Later, it was recognised as an “Institution of National Importance” and renamed the “Indian Institute of Delhi.” The institute has a campus of 325 acres, a student intake of 7784, and 750+ faculty members. It also has two other satellite campuses at Jhajjar and Sonepat. IIT Delhi admission to different courses is offered through various entrance examinations like GATE, CAT, JAM, and JEE Main. B.Tech is the flagship course of the institute. Other popular courses include M.Tech, MBA, MSc, etc. The IIT Delhi offers 85+ courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels through its 16 departments.
In the NIRF Ranking 2024, IIT Delhi secured 4th rank in the overall category, 2nd in the engineering category, 4th in Management, 3rd in Research, and 7th in the innovation category. In the QS World University Ranking 2024, the institute has secured 197th position.
The highest package offered for the 2023 IIT Delhi placements was Rs 2 crore per annum. Over 1300 job offers were made and around 260 students have received pre-placement offers.
IIT Delhi Courses and Fees 2024
IIT Delhi fees range from Rs 20000 to Rs 810000 per year, depending on the degree level, duration and specialization of the course. The college offers 123 courses at Ph.D, Certificate, PG and UG programmes. Furthermore, IIT Delhi offers 14 courses in B.Tech, 5 courses in B.Tech+M.Tech at the UG level. At the PG level, the students can choose a wide range of specializations - 43 courses in M.Tech, 14 course in MS. Admission to IIT Delhi courses are open for the academic year 2024-25. For admission the college conducts CEED. In addition to this, scores of JEE Main, JEE Advanced, GATE, IIT JAM are accepted by IIT Delhi.

IIT Delhi Admissions 2024
IIT Delhi admissions are offered to B.Tech courses on the basis of scores obtained in JEE Advanced. Candidates with valid marks then proceed to participate in the JoSAA counselling. Registrations are now open and will close on June 18, 2024. Round 1 counselling for IIT Delhi admissions will commence on June 20, 2024.
IIT Delhi Admission Criteria
The admission criteria of IIT Delhi vary as per the course and specialisations. For B.Tech, the JEE Advanced scores are considered. For M.Tech, GATE exam scores are considered. The detailed eligibility criteria for various courses offered at IIT Delhi are mentioned below.
- B.Tech – Candidates who want to secure admission in the B.Tech course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi should have at least 75% aggregate in their 12th standard boards. JEE Mains and Advanced entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. The B.Tech course is for a period of 4 years.
- M.Tech - Candidates who want to secure admission in the M.Tech course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi should have at least 60% aggregate in their bachelor`s course (BE or B.Tech). The GATE entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. The M.Tech course is for a period of 2 years.
- MBA - Candidates who want to secure admission in the MBA course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi should have at least 60% aggregate in their bachelor`s course. The CAT entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. The MBA course is for a period of 2 years.
- M.Sc - M.Sc is one of the courses where IIT Delhi admission without JEE is possible. Candidates who want to secure admission in MSc course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi should have at least 60% aggregate in their bachelor`s course. GATE or IIT JAM entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. The MSc course is for a period of 2 years.
- M.Des - Candidates who want to secure admission in the M.Des course at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi should have at least 60% aggregate in their bachelor`s course. No entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. M.Des course is for a period of 2 years.
- PhD - Candidates should have a master’s degree or equivalent in any discipline with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade point average recognized by AICTE /AIU with a Bachelor’s degree /equivalent qualification completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or a five-year integrated Master’s Degree Programme in any discipline with at least 60% marks. The GATE entrance exam is to be cleared by the candidates. PhD course is for a period of 3 years.
IIT Delhi Application Process 2024
Offline Application Form:
Candidates or students trying to seek admission can walk into the campus and head to the admission cell to get the admission form. They can also clear any of their doubts from the admission cell and then submit the form once they have filled in all the required data with relevant documents. While submitting the application form, a nominal fee of Rs 1000 must be paid. This amount can be paid via credit/debit card, UPI or cash.
Online Application:
Candidates can also visit the institute's official website and then fill in the application form in online mode. They would also be required to attach the relevant documents which are requested on the official site. Once the documents are attached candidate will have to pay a fee of Rs 1000. Upon completion of the process, the candidate would receive an e-mail confirming the same.

Step 1: Visit the official website of the institute which is iitd.ac.in.
Step 2: Click on “Admissions” to view various admission-related details. Click on “Apply Now” in this section.
Step 3: The registration page will open, click on “New User Register Here”. Fill out the registration form and create a password for future logins.

Step 5: Upload all documents like passport size photograph and signature in the asked format.

- Students enrolled in various courses are offered financial assistance or scholarships. The scholarship schemes offered by IIT Delhi help students to cover academic and other expenses during the tenure of the program/ course. Nirmala Devi Raghunath Das Sarin Scholarship One scholarship is awarded to 2nd-year B.Tech student of Textile Technology on the basis of MCM having CGPA of 6.0 or more
The student with the lowest means will be awarded the scholarship. The student shall not be a recipient of any other scholarship.

IIT Delhi Placements 2024
IIT Delhi placements (Phase 1) for the year 2024 has been completed. As per the report, a total of 1000 students got placed in reputed companies. Companies such as Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Texas Instruments etc. participated in IIT Delhi placements 2024 and hired students. 1050 jobs were made including PPOs. The institute is yet to release the complete placement report 2024.
During the 2023 placements, as many as 1300 job offers were received by students out of which 1,150 were unique offers. IIT Delhi highest package offered to a MBA student in 2023 was Rs 41.13 lakh per annum. IIT Delhi achieved 100% placements for the Master of Business Administration programme. IIT Delhi placement percentage for engineering courses was 84.94% in 2023 . Companies including Capgemini, Adani, McKinsey & Company, Yes Bank etc. are some of the top recruiters of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.

As many as 500 companies from diverse domains hired students. IIT Delhi highest package in the year 2023 was Rs 2.5 crore per annum, whereas 2023 highest domestic package of IIT Delhi was Rs 1 crore per annum. A total of 260 pre-placement offers (PPOs) were provided to students.
